Download GOM Player which is a free media player software for Windows. This was developed by the South Korean company, GOM & Company. Much like the KMPlayer which is also Korean made. The media player supports a wide range of media file formats. These include the AVI, MP4, MKV, FLV, and others. GOM Player supports Unicode Text Subtitles
The player supports subtitles for .mkv and other video formats. Now in order too use the subtitles with GOM Player. You will need to take the subtitle file and ensure that the subtitle name is the same as the name as the video file. It also has to be in the same folder. GOM will automatically detect and load the subtitle file if it is available.
Also if you want to load the subtitle manually you will need to go to the “Subtitle” menu and then select “Load Subtitle.” The player also provides options for adjusting the font, size, color, and position of subtitles.
