Download the AAC ACM codec is a software-based codec (coder-decoder). This allows audio files in the Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) format to be played back in Windows using the standard audio codec interface, Audio Compression Manager (ACM). It also enables playback of AAC files in applications that support the ACM interface, such as Windows Media Player and other media players.
AAC ACM Codec
This codec allows for efficient compression of audio files. The compressed audio files will result in smaller file sizes without compromising on audio quality. It’s widely used in many applications such as streaming audio and video. Note that this codec can only decode AAC. The codec does not have the ability to encode the files to this format. Should you wish to encode into this format then you have to use the Nero AAC Codec.
Compatible AAC Players
These are media players that support the interface and can play back files using the AAC ACM include:
- Windows Media Player
- VLC media player
- Media Player Classic
- Foobar2000
- Winamp
Note that most modern media players support AAC codec by default, so an additional codec is not needed to play AAC files. You can also see the HEIF Image Extension on here.
How to install AAC ACM Codec
To install this on your computer, you can follow these steps:
- Download the codec below;
- Then run the downloaded installer file and follow the on-screen instructions to install the codec.
- Once the installation is complete, you should be able to play AAC files in media players that support the ACM
Nte further that the installation process will differ depending on the version of the codec, or the operating system.
